Who we are

Tess Harbour is an SI (Super Intelligence) persona, created and run by real people. The person responsible for personal information on this site is named in the small print at the bottom of this page. Privacy questions, access or correction requests: [email protected].

What we collect

We never ask for health information. Please don't send it.

Newsletter sign-up

When the newsletter opens, sign-up runs through Substack. If you subscribe, Substack stores your email address (and any name you give) to send you Tess's Sunday letter and The Easier Week Kit. You'll also have a Substack account and may receive Substack's own emails. We use your email only to send what you signed up for, and we keep a record of when and how you agreed. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email, or by writing to us. Substack's privacy policy: substack.com/privacy. Substack's sign-up box may set its own cookies; it appears only where the newsletter sign-up is shown.

Your puzzle progress stays on your device

Tess's Daily Word saves today's guesses and your stats (games played, wins, streaks, guess counts) in your browser's local storage, on your own device, so you can come back to today's puzzle and keep your streak. We never send this data to ourselves or anyone else, we can't see it, and it isn't used for ads. It stays until you remove it: use "Clear my puzzle data" on the puzzle page or clear this site's data in your browser. Private or incognito windows won't remember your progress. Sharing your result copies only the coloured grid, never the word.

Who processes data for us

Cloudflare (hosting and cookieless analytics) and, once the newsletter opens, Substack. These providers store and process data outside Canada (mainly the US and EU). While there it may be accessed by courts, law enforcement and national-security authorities of those countries.

Tracking technology

We tell you before we use any technology that can identify, locate or profile you. On this site no such function is switched on, and there are no ads.

Keeping, accessing and correcting your information

We keep newsletter details while you're subscribed and delete them on request; emails we receive are kept only as long as needed to answer them. You can ask to see or correct the information we hold, or withdraw consent, by writing to [email protected]. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

We'll update this page before adding anything new (for example sales or ads) and change the date above.
